Majiacun Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Xichuan basin. The Majiacun Formation was erected in the report on the red beds of the Zhechuan basin of Henan (unpublished) in 1975. The section for the designation is at the Majia Village of Heidouya-Dongxisi of the Zhechuan County (?Xichuan Co?) of Henan. The Majiacun Formation was officially quoted in the Geological Annals of Henan in 1989.
Lithology and Thickness
The Majiacun Formation is represented by brown red calcareous siltstone and fine sandstone with sandy conglomerate and mudstone. It possesses amber and gypsum. It is 390.22 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base of the formation marked by grayish white sandy conglomerate is distinguished from the Gaogou Fm of brownish red and grayish green siltstone. It is a conformable contact.
Upper contact
The top is bounded by the appearance of grayish white conglomerate at the base of the Sigou Fm. It is a conformable contact.
Regional extent
The formation occurs in the form of NW-oriented bands in Zoumagang of Xixia, Yangcheng, Dashiqiao of Zhechuan, Xiaguan of Neixiang and Liuquanpu of Zhenping of west Henan. It varies considerably in thickness and decreases gradually in thickness towards west.

The formation yields Ornothopoda Omithopoces; vertebra Oraithopops; Dinosaurian eggs Spheroolithus taoheensis, Ovalloolithus cf. chihanghouensis; Charophytes Porochara anluensis, P. soheria, Obtusochara luxiensis; Sporopollen grains Schizaea sp., Lygodium sp., Proteaceae sp., Tricolporopollenites sp.

Depositional setting
It is of shallow lacustrine deposition of Late Cretaceous.
